Welcome

I am a Pittsburgh-based freelance writer who is intrigued by the extraordinary, attracted to quirk.  I just retired from a 12-year competitive rugby career, knit steeked sweaters, and make my own cheese. My work, covering anything from green home renovations to cupcake contests to urban coyotes, has appeared in Forbes.com, American Baby, Parents, and the Mother Nature Network, among others.

My initiation into parenthood inspired a rebirth in my writing. I aspire to give voice to every gritty aspect of birth and mothering--all of it from breastfeeding to behemoth nursing bras to VBACtivism  and cloth diapering snafus.
